Welcome to the Neurodiversity and Learning Lab!

The Neurodiversity and Learning Lab is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of neurodiversity across education, society, and everyday life. Grounded in the neurodiversity paradigm, we view neurological differences such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other forms of cognitive variation as natural expressions of human diversity rather than deficits to be corrected.

Our mission is to generate innovative research that deepens our understanding of how neurodivergent individuals think, learn, communicate, and engage with the world. Through national and international collaborations, we conduct high-quality research that informs educational practices, social policies, and community initiatives designed to promote inclusion, participation, and well-being.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to understanding autistic and other neurodivergent individuals from a strengths-based and person-centered perspective. We investigate learning processes, cognitive diversity, social experiences, and environmental factors that shape development and participation across the lifespan. By bridging research, practice, and lived experience, we aim to challenge misconceptions and contribute to a more inclusive society.

The lab brings together researchers, educators, students, practitioners, families, and neurodivergent individuals to co-create knowledge and develop evidence-based solutions for real-world challenges. Our projects span a wide range of topics, including inclusive education, learning and cognition, social participation, accessibility, quality of life, educational technologies, and community engagement.

Through rigorous research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful partnerships, the Neurodiversity and Learning Lab strive to become a leading center for neurodiversity scholarship and advocacy, fostering a future in which neurological differences are understood, valued, and supported across all areas of life.

Together, we seek not only to understand neurodiversity, but to transform the systems in which neurodivergent people learn, work, and thrive.
