Graduate Thesis Examination Procedures

PROCEDURES TO BE COMPLETED BY STUDENTS AND SUPERVISOR BEFORE AND AFTER THE MASTER THESIS DEFENCE EXAM

 

1. In order to take the master's thesis defense exam, the student must successfully complete at least seven courses, one graduate seminar course (60 ECTS in total), and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.50,

2. A Master's student must submit a paper taken from her/his supervisor certifying that the student has fulfilled at least one of the following conditions (it is valid for those students who enrolled in the program since the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year)

a) A paper presented at national or international scientific meetings,

b) An article published in a refereed/indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,

b) A paper presented at the symposiums organized by IZU (Social sciences / Science).

The thesis supervisor sends by her/his email the WORD VERSION of the student's completed thesis to the Thesis Control Centre to be checked in accordance with the IZU plagiarism policy and thesis writing rules. (Click for thesis control addresses.)

3. The thesis supervisor carries out the following procedures when the student gets approval from the control center:

a) Master's Thesis jury form,

b) The petition that certifies that the thesis complies with the IZU plagiarism policy and the thesis writing rules,

c) Thesis Final Control form,

4. The documents above must be sent to the Graduate Education Institute through the EBYS system with the signature of the head of the program. After the Institute Executive Board approves the documents, the dissertation supervisor is informed by the staff responsible for the relevant program in the institute. Later on,

5. Thesis submission form to the jury members - a copy of the dissertation is submitted to the faculty members in charge of the doctoral dissertation exam, and this form is signed. The thesis defense exam can be held within 15 days from the date specified in the form.

NOTE 2: The head of the program is expected to send by email one copy of the dissertation to the supervisor outside the IZU.

PROCEDURES TO BE COMPLETED BY STUDENTS AND ADVISORS BEFORE AND AFTER THE PH.D. DISSERTATION DEFENSE EXAM

 

1. To take the doctoral dissertation defense exam, the student must successfully complete at least seven courses, a seminar course (60 ECTS in total) and a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.00,

2.  A Ph. D. student must submit a paper taken from her/his supervisor certifying that the student has fulfilled at least one of the following conditions (it is valid for those students who enrolled in the program since the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year)

a) Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,

b) An article published in a refereed/indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,

c) Two papers presented in the symposiums that IZU organizes in the fields of Social sciences and Science.

3. The dissertation supervisor sends via her/his email the WORD VERSION of the student’s completed dissertation to the Dissertation Control Centre to be checked in accordance with the IZU plagiarism policy and dissertation writing rules. (Click for dissertation control addresses.)

4. The dissertation supervisor carries out the following procedures when the student gets approval from the control center:

a) Doctoral dissertation jury form,

b) The petition that certifies that the dissertation complies with the IZU plagiarism policy and the dissertation writing rules,

c) Dissertation Final Control form,
