In the Thesis Master's programs of our Institute, the thesis supervisors of students who have completed the standard study period of four semesters or a maximum study period of six semesters (excluding Scientific Preparation, Registration Suspension, and Additional Time) as of the end of the Spring Semester of the 2023-2024 academic year are required to submit the Word version of the thesis to the Thesis Control Team by the end of office hours on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the latest.

Theses submitted after May 10, 2024, will not be accepted.

The forms for the thesis defense of thesis master's students graduating in the Spring semester must be submitted by the Head of the Department to the Graduate Education Institute by Friday, May 31, 2024. Students in this situation must fulfill the publication requirement before May 31, 2024.

The thesis master students who will graduate in the Spring semester must take the thesis defense exam by Friday, July 05, 2024.

Requirements for Completion of Master's Thesis

1. Students must have at least seven courses and one Seminar course (a total of 60 ECTS) together with a minimum GPA of 2.50 to take the thesis defense exam.
2. In accordance with the decision of IZU Senate dated 18.09.2017 and numbered 2017/21; Starting from the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs with the thesis within the Graduate School Institute are required to fulfill the publication requirement. 3. The title of the thesis determined by the student together with their advisor must be listed in the Campus Information System for the thesis master's program.

Checking for Plagiarism and Compliance with Thesis Writing Rules for Completed Master's Theses

1. The primary responsibility for the preparation of the thesis in accordance with the Thesis Writing Guidelines belongs to the student and thesis supervisor. Thesis Control Team members are responsible for formal control of the final drafts of theses.
2. The thesis, written in accordance with the Graduate School Institute's thesis writing guide, should be sent to the advisor by the student via email.
3. The thesis supervisor must e-mail their student's thesis to the Thesis Control Team members. Click here for thesis control e-mail addresses.
4. Theses that do not comply with the Thesis Writing Guideline and/or those similarity reports exceeding 20% must be corrected and submitted within five days. The Thesis Control Team Members will not control the thesis more than three times. All responsibility in this regard belongs to the thesis supervisor and the student. It must be noted that singular similarities must not exceed 1% in the plagiarism report.
5. Institutional thesis supervisors must submit the documents of the thesis master's students who will graduate to the Graduate Education Institute via the ÜBYS system.
6. External thesis advisors must submit the documents of graduate thesis students who will graduate to the Head of the Department.

In Case of Period Extension and Failure

1. Students, who are not able to complete their thesis until May 10, 2024, within their normal study period of four semesters and extend their thesis submission to the Fall Semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, are required to pay tuition for one course for the extension period. (No discount will be applied to the tuition fee paid for the extension period.) This situation is valid for the Spring Semester of the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the second extension period.
2. Students, who have failed in thesis study or have not been able to take the thesis defense exam within the maximum study period of six semesters, will be dismissed from the University.

According to the 1st and 2nd paragraphs of Article 9 of the IZU Graduate Education and Training Regulations;

(1) The duration of the master's program with thesis is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program enrolled in the program are given, regardless of whether they are registered for each semester, except for the period spent in scientific preparation, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters.

(2) The student who has failed to complete credit courses and one Seminar course or has not been able to fulfill the success criteria determined by the University, and who has failed in thesis study or has not been able to take thesis defense exam within the maximum period of study will be disenrolled from the University.
