Prof. Dr. Ahmet Cevat ACAR, Rektör 

Born in Kastamonu-Taşköprü in 1960, Ahmet Cevat Acar graduated from AÜ Faculty of Business Administration (1980). He completed his master's degree in IU Faculty of Business Administration, "Personnel Management and Industrial Relations", and his doctorate in IU Institute of Social Sciences, "Business and Personnel Management-Organization" department. Acar became an assistant professor in 1994 and an associate professor in 1998 at IU Faculty of Business Administration, Department of Human Resources Management, and became a professor in 2007. He carried out training, research, consultancy, publications and projects in the fields of Human Resources Management, Management-Organization and Organizational Behavior. Prof. In addition to his academic studies, Acar has various commission and board memberships/chairmanships, faculty board and faculty executive board membership, IU Institute of Business Economics (IIE) Deputy Director and Board of Directors membership, education coordinator, IU strategic planning board member, career center Board member, high school He served as undergraduate program chair, member of the MoLSS Occupational Health and Safety Strategy Document Advisory Board, Vice Rector of Istanbul University (2010-2012), and served as the President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) for two terms between August 2012 and May 2019. Prof., who is the Head of IU Faculty of Business Administration, Department of Human Resources Management and a member of the Faculty Board. Dr. Ahmet Cevat Acar, also T.R. He is a member of the Presidential Education and Training Policies Board and TÜBA Academy Council.

Prof. Acar is married and has two children.

İsmail Küçük is currently a Professor of Mathematics, Vice Rector (2022-present) and Dean (1997-present) of Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. He received his Ph.D. (2001) and M.Sc. (1996) in Applied Mathematics from University of Utah, S.L.C., Utah and Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, respectively; and B.Sc. (1991) in Mathematics from Istanbul University, Turkiye. He joined American University of Sharjah, Sharjah, U.A.E. in 2002 as an assistant professor. Prof. Kucuk has taught undergraduate mathematics courses for more than 25 years at institutions such as the University of Utah, American University of Sharjah, Yildiz Technical University and Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. As an applied mathematician, his research interests are differential equations, optimal control of mechanical systems, continuum mechanics and computational methods. He has published over 50 refereed journal and conference proceeding papers. Additionally, Prof. Kucuk actively engages in projects for underprivileged communities.

Prof. Dr. Erhan İÇENER, Rektör Yardımcısı

Prof. Dr. Erhan İÇENER graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of International Relations, in 2002. He received the UK Government's Chevening Scholarship for his master's studies in European Integration at Queen's University Belfast. He holds an MSSc in European Integration with Distinction and a PhD in European Studies (International Relations) from Queen's University Belfast. Dr. İÇENER's research focuses on European integration, EU enlargement policy, alternatives to EU membership, EU foreign relations, Turkey - EU relations and the Cyprus issue. He has authored articles published in international refereed journals such as Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, Journal of Contemporary European Studies, Perspectives on European Politics and Society, Insight Turkey and bilig: Journal of Social Sciences of the Turkic World and as book chapters. Dr. İÇENER also contributes to many national and international journals as a referee.

Dr. İÇENER has worked in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University since 2017. He was appointed as Associate Professor in 2018 and Professor in 2023. Dr. İÇENER served as the Vice Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations between 2018 and 2020 and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences between 2018 and 2024. He continues to act as the Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Director of the Graduate Education

Institute, where he was appointed in 2020 and 2022, respectively. As of May 2024, Dr. İÇENER is appointed as a Vice President.

Prof. Dr. Erhan İÇENER is married and has two children.

 

Prof. Dr. Nihat ERDOĞMUŞ,

Prof. Dr. Nihat Erdoğmuş graduated from the Department of Psychology at Boğaziçi University in 1992. He received his Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from the Faculty of Business Administration at Istanbul University in 1995, and his PhD in Management and Organization from the Institute of Social Sciences at Sakarya University in 1998. He became an Associate Professor in Business Management in 1999 and a Professor in Management and Organization in April 2005. In 2002, he worked as a researcher at the Newcastle Business School of Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. He has held both academic and administrative positions at Sakarya University, Kocaeli University, Istanbul Şehir University, and Yıldız Technical University. Throughout his career, he has served as Institute Director, member of University Executive Board and Senate, member of Faculty Board and Faculty Executive Board, as well as chair and member of Strategic Planning and Quality Commissions. He has also supported the establishment and development of university career centers. In addition to his academic and administrative duties, he has provided consultancy in education, research, and institutionalization to numerous private sector organizations, public institutions, and NGOs, has led various projects in his field of expertise.

His academic research areas include career management, change management and organizational development, management psychology, NGOs, and higher education administration. He has authored numerous national and international books, articles, and conference papers in his field. Among his notable works are Career in Theory and Practice, Voluntary and Professional Work in Non-Governmental Organizations, Family Businesses: Management Succession and Preparing the Next Generation, Business Ethics: Foundations and Applications (Editor, with Ö. Torlak and Kübra Tiryaki), and Corporate Governance Handbook for NGOs (Editor, with Z. Sayın). He authored the report Higher Education in the Türkiye of the Future, as well as the research report titled The Structuring of Research Universities: Opportunities and Challenges. Under the TÜBİTAK 1001 program, he led the projects titled “Factors Affecting the Development and Innovation Performance of Family Businesses in Turkiye” and “The Process and Outcomes of Temporal and Spatial Relocation of Businesses in Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula.”

Between 2011 and 2014, he served as an Advisor to the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). He contributed to the development of the higher education information management system. He was a Member of the Board of Directors at Anadolu Agency (AA), where he led institutionalization and internationalization projects. He also worked as a

consultant on projects related to the development of human resources and career management in the public sector at the Presidential Human Resources Office. At TÜBİTAK, he served as a member of various committees. He continues to serve as an evaluator at the Higher Education Quality Council. He is also a member of the TÜBA Working Group on Science and Education Policies.

He served as the founding president of the Civil Society Academy (STA), which works on developing management and institutional capacity in NGOs. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Business Ethics, contributing to its establishment and growth. He has actively engaged in numerous NGOs as a volunteer and member. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ILKE Foundation.

At the beginning of 2025, he led a project on organizational development and human resources in administrative units at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, where he also served as an advisor to the Rector on these matters. As of October 2025, he began working as a faculty member in the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University. He currently serves as Vice Rector at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
