He was born in 1966 in İzmir. He completed his elementary education in Izmir and secondary education in Manisa. In 1988, he graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations. He got scholarship by the Ministry of Education to study abroad in the United Kingdom and received his master's degree in International Relations from the University of Birmingham (1990) and his PhD from the Middle Eastern Studies center at the University of Durham (1994). In 1995, he started working as an assistant professor at Kırıkkale University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations. In March 2005, he became an assistant professor, and in May 2010 he became professor. At Kırıkkale University, He served as vice dean between 2009-2010, Director of Institute of Social Sciences between 2010-2011 and Dean of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences between 2011-2014. After working at the Police Academy between January 2015 and August 2015, and when he passed to the Social Sciences University of Ankara, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences from October 2016 until January 2018. His main research areas are Turkish-American relations, the Cyprus problem, Turkish foreign policy, US foreign policy and Middle East studies. Besides the numerous articles published in national and international journals, he has 3 books published in the United States and 4 books published in Turkey. Also, except for the many translated articles from English to Turkish, he has translated six basic books in the international relations field to Turkish.
